The ASPT system at Illinois State University is administered by a tiered set of committees elected by tenure-line faculty members. Policies in effect prior to Janumay be obtained through the Office of the Provost. The university ASPT document is supplemented by policies on the college and department/school levels (use the link in the navigation bar to the left to access them). ASPT policies applicable to probationary and tenured faculty in all academic units at the University are set forth in the Faculty Appointment, Salary, Promotion, and Tenure Policies document, effective Janu(see ASPT 2017 below).

The system is intended to appoint, reward, and retain a highly competent faculty through a democratic system that involves faculty in the evaluation of professional competence. The (Faculty) Appointment, Salary, Promotion, and Tenure (or ASPT) system at Illinois State University prescribes policies and procedures related to probationary and tenured faculty members at the University.
